The counseling is provided by Hummingbird Credit Counseling and Education which is an independent non-profit organization not affiliated with Alex Wathen
Before the counseling can be finalized and a certificate issued the fee of $49 must be paid to Alex Wathen or other acceptable payment arrangements made.
Under the new Bankruptcy law you are not eligible to file unless you actually have a certificate from the credit counseling agency.
Alex Wathen will only finalize certifications for those who file bankruptcy with him as their attorney. Others seeking a certificate should contact Hummingbird.
If you want to file the same day as your appointment, it is important that you finish your credit counseling including the final telephone component at least the day before your appointment. Emergency filings have risks and should not be undertaken lightly. It is important that we have as much information as possible available before we file.
